Model history
The Lancia Stratos will probably remain as the more charismatic car ever raced in Rallies, launched in 1974 in Groupe 4 they won the WRC in 1974/1975/1976.
This wonderful example chassis number 1936 is one of the very first Stratos raced by a private, having been first entered by it’s owner Mr Montaldo in the 1975 Rally Campagnolo. The car participated in a total of 15 Rallies until 1981, including international ones, the last race achievement was an excellent 4th OA at the Rally di Monza.
In the end of 1981, it was purchased by Mister Domet, he was then the French Ferrari Club President but also very famous for his collection of Ferrari race cars ( Daytona GR4, 512 M, Dino 206 S … ) and kept it until 2004.
After being entirely mechanically rebuilt with engine done by Maglioli, it made some remarkable appearances in the French Press and was the subject to a large article in “Sport auto” tested by F. Delecour in 1996.
Art & Revs recently restored the body into it’s original Montaldo colours as it raced the Costa Smeralda Rally in 1978. A lot of attention was putted into keeping the rest of the car very original and unrestored.
An important history file comes with the car including importation file in France in 1981 a copy from all of the registrations, about 80 period pictures in race, press articles, invoices and various other documents.
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a fantastic unmolested original condition Group 4 always maintained to the highest level. It’s the very first time in its life this car is offered on the market.
